Most problems can be quickly resolved without returning the clock for service. Before calling, please have these instructions and the following information available:
1. In the unlikely event that your clock appears to be malfunctioning or require repair, IN NORTH AMERICA please call one of our Repair Technicians at (616) 772-9131. OUTSIDE NORTH AMERICA please call your distributor or agent.
Charges will result for repair services if a bill of sale or other proof of purchase date is not provided, if instructions were not followed, if the clock is beyond the Limited Warranty period or is otherwise outside the scope of the Limited Warranty.
2. Mechanical Movement Oiling and Cleaning. The movement in your clock is a mechanical mechanism and, therefore, requires periodic oiling and cleaning depending on climatic and environmental conditions. Under normal conditions a movement requires oiling with high quality clock oil approximately every two years from the date of purchase. Please contact a qualified clock repair person or authorized Howard Miller Service Center for this service.
A Howard Miller clock has various mechanisms within the clock that may need to be repaired if the clock is an antique, or the clock may just need an adjustment in general. Sometimes the clock mechanisms become damaged upon moving the clock, or there may need to be an adjustment made on a faulty piece. Some antique Howard Miller clocks need to be oiled. Both antique and contemporary clocks need to be oiled once every three years as oiling keeps the mechanisms inside the clock running smoothly.
Unboxing Your New Grandfather Clock: a) Cut the nylon bands around the shipping carton and open the box from both side. b) Remove the box from on top of the clock. This will contain your product manual. c) Remove the cardboard side supports inside the carton. d) Remove the Grandfather Clock pendulum packaged in aseparate tall, thin cardboard box. e) Slide the clock out of either one of the sides of the box. f) Carefully "walk" the clock off of the cardboard bottom support once out of the box.
When manually setting the time, the clock may chime a few minutes before or after the hour - this will automatically be corrected during the first hour of normal operation. The clock may also chime out of sequence during the first hour of operation. After setting it to the correct time, it is important that the clock movement be allowed to operate for at least one hour for the chime sequence to become fully functional. The quartz movement is highly accurate and has been adjusted at the factory for precise time keeping.
